Design excellence, rooted in education.

Envisionar Design Atelier was founded by Prof. Bhuleshwar Mate — a retired Professor of Applied Arts and Design, and former Vice Chancellor of Assam University, with over fifty years in design education and practice.

His background spans print design, graphic design, and applied arts, with early work in institutional and hospitality identity — including the Hyatt Regency and, most notably, the identity system for the 24th International Film Festival of India, New Delhi, 1993, still in use in adapted form today and documented in full in the studio’s own research publication.

The studio brings the rigour of academic design thinking to real-world commercial projects — from a startup’s first logo to a corporation’s exhibition pavilion. Work spans brand identity, print, signage, packaging, and exhibition design for clients across retail, government, healthcare, finance, and architecture.

That same thinking extends into research and publishing. Vernacular Branding — co-authored with architect Kaushambi Mate — carries the studio’s design philosophy into a self-published exploration of identity, cultural memory, and postcolonial representation in contemporary branding, sold in India and Germany.
